Preliminary Study #1, What Does Salvation Mean for Me? Section: What God Promised Me (page 3)

Comments are now open for the section, "What God Promised Me" on page 3.  Fill the blanks for questions A thru G, but remember to read the entire Chapter for the respective verse.  For example, question A is Romans 6:23.  Read Chapter 6 in its entirety to gain context.  Also remember, this study uses KJV, so if your word doesn't fit the number of spaces, refer to KJV for the answer!  You can access KJV at, www.bible.com, if you don't have hardcopy.  God bless, Brad

From Brooke:

God's Promise ….. Eternal Life
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

This passage is so simple for us to understand, yet so hard for many to accept. Without Christ the only thing we deserve is death. Yes, we all will experience a physical death someday, but this refers to a spiritual death. We are triune beings – body, soul & spirit. When our physical body dies our soul and spirit will live on for eternity. The Bible is clear about our two options for eternity, Heaven or Hell. God wants us to have eternal life with Him in Heaven and all we have to do is ask.

In order for us to attain Heaven, we must be free of sin. Since this isn't humanly possible, Jesus Christ had to pay for our sins.

Romans 3:10 "There is none righteous, no not one:"
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;”

It is through the gift of Jesus Christ we have the ability to go to Heaven. He paid our penalty through his shed blood. It is through this payment that we are able to receive the free gift of salvation; however, it must be accepted.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Remember, if a gift is given to you and you leave in unopened on your doorstep, it is worthless to you and has been rejected. I pray you will accept this eternal gift and share it with others.

Brad’s comments for the section “What God Promised Me”

I’ll offer some follow-on comments from Brooke’s entry. Romans 6:23 is so critical to understand in its entirety, because it’s the “first step” in the Plan of Salvation. A person doesn’t go to a doctor if they don’t think they are sick. A person won’t seek Christ if they don’t realize they are a sinner. Many people see themselves as “good people” and don’t accept themselves as being a sinner. God sent His only begotten Son to die for our sins – so obviously God identifies us as sinners. He provides for our redemption through Salvation.

Another point I’d like to make is that Salvation is ETERNAL in nature. Verse 23 and a multitude of other scripture discusses ETERNAL life. Eternal means forever, and forever, and…you get the point. Some people think a person can lose their Salvation. This belief runs counter to scripture. Why would God sacrifice his only Son to “temporarily” pay for a sinner’s debt? Under what circumstances does a person lose their salvation? These type of questions are unfounded. Do you believe God has the power and mercy to forgive our sins and promise eternal life? I do. Why? I learned the answer in pre-school: “The Bible tells me so.”

God bless
